The terms “lip fillers” and “lip boosters” can sometimes be used interchangeably, but they typically refer to different types of treatments with distinct formulations and purposes. Here’s a breakdown of the differences between hyaluronic acid lip fillers and lip boosters like lumi pro and bacio lip booster.
Hyaluronic Acid Lip Fillers
Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers are gel-like substances made from a naturally occurring molecule in the body. They are designed to add volume and hydration to the lips.
The primary aim of HA fillers is to enhance lip volume, shape, and definition. They can also improve lip symmetry and contour.
Dermal filler keeps its shape because it is CROSS LINKED hyaluronic acid unlike lip boosters. The effects of HA fillers typically last between 6 to 12 months, depending on the specific product used, the area treated, and individual metabolism.
Lip Boosters
Lip boosters are NON CROSS LINKED hyaluronic acid and may contain a blend of ingredients designed to provide hydration and enhance the appearance of the lips.
The goal is not only to add volume but also to improve lip hydration, smoothness, and overall appearance. It offers more of a subtle enhancement rather than significant volumization.
The effects of lip boosters vary depending on the formulation and application method however provide more temporary results compared to traditional HA fillers. Multiple regular sessions on lip boosters is usually needed to get the best results.
- EFunctionality
HA fillers primarily focus on adding volume and shape, while products like Lumi Pro Lip Booster mainly aim for hydration.
- EDuration of Effects
HA fillers generally offer longer-lasting results compared to many lip boosters.
- EIngredients
While HA fillers are primarily composed of cross linked hyaluronic acid, boosters contain non cross linked hyaluronic acid and may contain additional ingredients for hydration and texture improvement.
Ultimately, the choice between hyaluronic acid lip fillers and a product like Lumi Pro Lip Booster depends on individual goals, preferences for results.
What are the negatives to lip boosters?
Lip boosters typically don’t last very long and need multiple sessions.
If someone already has dermal filler in the lips, injecting lip boosters may caused the filler to move (similar to a saline flush) and may cause lumps and migration
When would I choose to use lip booster?
Overall, I wouldn’t use lip booster as a replacement treatment for lip fillers. I think this would lead to disappointment with both myself and the client.
I also wouldn’t use lip boosters if clients already had more filler in their lips due to the risk of the lip booster affecting the filler.
I would use lip boosters on someone that is suffering from dry, cracked or sore lips and the only goal was hydration and not changing the overall appearance, size or shape of their lips.
I think lip boosters would be beneficial when a client has had a lip dissolve and they would like to restore the loss of their natural hyaluronic acid. However, I think it would be even more beneficial to a client if they had been left with compromised lip tissue (such as pockets) after they dissolve due to them having lumps or migration and their lip tissue needed aid in repairing.
When would I choose to use lip booster?
I think lip boosters can be a great Addition to your treatment list, if they are promoted and used correctly.
