Top Tips To BOSS This Industry

1. Make sure your standard of work is good

This is absolutely essential, it doesn’t matter how good you are at everything else, if you’re standard of work isn’t good, word will get round and you will end up loosing clients. My advice is if you only do your basic lips, do an advanced lip course. 90% of my clients have advanced lip techniques and that’s how I get amazing results. If you’re not confident then do another course, and if you can’t give a particular client the best results then turn them away. There’s no shame in doing so, it shows that you’re a responsible practitioner you put their client first over money.

2. Make sure you get good content!

Believe it or not, this is just as essential as having a good standard of work. In this business, social media is key. So make sure you have good lighting (I advise a double armed ring light), a good device to take pictures on (I use an iPhone 15 pro max) and you’re getting them angles! Take LOTSSSS of pictures & videos of every client. Portrait mode is amazing for taking pictures as it blurs out the background and can really focus on your client. I understand that people use editing apps however you should never edit your work, meaning if you have done lip filler, your client may want you to smooth out the skin but do not touch the lips (editing the lips would meanfalse advertising) Make sure you get your clients consent to use their pictures, I have this as a section on my consent form.

3. Know your emergency procedures & have an emergency kit

It doesn’t matter how good of an injector you are, if you don’t know your emergency procedures and you don’t have an emergency kit which has all the prescribed medication then you are a bad practitioner. Not only that, if you have one emergency such as vascular occlusion and you can’t deal with it, your whole reputation could be ruined, your client scarred emotionally or physically for life and you could get sued.
(See blog number 2, to learn more about what should be in your emergency kit and what each item is used for)

4. Be consistent

Consistency is definitely key. Be consistent with how often you work, be consistent in replying to clients, be consistent on social media. This is not a job where you can just take a few weeks off without it greatly impacting your business. This is a high profit industry with a high percentage of the population having aesthetic or beauty work however there is also a lot of competition. This means if you are not readily available or consistent with your work it’s highly likely that the client will find somebody else to go to.

5. Never stop updating your knowledge

I can 100% guarantee that there isn’t one person on this earth that knows everything about any procedure. Whether that be dermal filler, anti wrinkle injections, skin boosters or anything else. You can never know enough. Read books, do refresher courses, learn new techniques and have an open mind and learn from other practitioners.

6. Choose high quality products

You can’t expect to produce high-quality work when using low quality products. What do you use really doesn’t matter and I see a lot of practitioners struggling to create a high standard of work because they are choosing cheap, low standard product. This can affect immediate result but it can also affect the longevity and how well that result lasts on your client.

7. Believe in yourself, don’t give up

It takes time to build up confidence, it takes time to build up your business, it takes time to perfect your work. No one is the best when they first start, it can take years to perfect your technique and learn tips and tricks that will make your work stand out.

Equally it can take just as long to build up your clientele, over the years you will have many new clients but you will also build a relationship with clients that come back time and time again. Rome wasn’t built in a day and your business won’t be built in a day either. P.S remember social media can be fake, someone can look like they have a thriving business which funds is an amazing, expensive lifestyle but that isn’t always the case.

8. Evaluate your business every month

It is essential to track your growth to be able to evaluate the negatives and positives. Keep track of the money coming in, and keep track of the money going out. Identify which treatments are making you most profit, which are more popular and identify the treatments that may be slacking in something. Keep track of what days of the week are your busiest and which social media posts gains most engagement. Keep track of as much as you can because this will allow you to identify where in your business needs more work.
